The writers of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 can finally introduce a character that they have wanted to include in every movie in the series. Pat Casey and Josh Miller have written every movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The recently released Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the highest-rated entry in the series yet. Reviews for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have been exceptional, and the film currently has a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). Following the success of Sonic 3, it has been confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is in development.
The story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 follows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who are tasked with taking down Shadow, who awakens on Prison Island in Tokyo Bay, Japan at the beginning of the movie. Ivo and Gerald Robotnik both seemingly die at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which makes room for the series to introduce new characters.
