
Latest Gundam Film ‘GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-’ Tops Japanese Box Office With 599 Million Yen Opening Weekend

The theatrical preview version of the latest Mobile Suit Gundam anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, has claimed the top spot at the Japanese box office in its opening weekend.
Released on Jan 17, the film grossed 599 million yen and drew 352,500 attendees over its first three days, according to Kogyo Tsushin’s weekend attendance rankings.
The film is a re-edited version of the first four episodes from the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series.

Gkids has secured the North American theatrical distribution rights for the film, and will release it in the theaters there on Feb 28, 2025.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series is co-produced by Studio Khara, famed for the Evangelion series, and Sunrise, the studio behind the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.
Kazuya Tsurumaki, who served as an assistant director under Hideaki Anno for Evangelion, is directing the series.
