Twilight Zone Fans Must See This 63-Year-Old Dark Fantasy Film
Image
Unfortunately for Twilight Zone fans, the beloved series has lain dormant since 2020. Its coldly received fourth revival was a flop, and many of its best episodes are part of its older catalog. The series is inimitable, after all. Only a tiny handful of works have mastered the art of narrative karma, and even fewer have done so with the effortless aplomb of Rod Sterling’s masterpiece.

While BBC’s Black Mirror anthology can be considered a modern spiritual successor, it usually leans more into horror than The Twilight Zone. Understandably, it also has distinctly British sensibilities. It seems almost impossible for American creators to imitate Sterling’s success and intellect. Fortunately, there are a few cinematic gems that may help Twilight Zone fans scratch that itch. So, picture, if you will, Herk Harvey’s Carnival of Souls. The psychological horror film debuted in 1962, although it didn’t immediately captivate audiences.
