Even after almost three decades, the action thriller Con Air is still seen as one of veteran actor Nicolas Cage's best films. Despite its box office profits and Academy Award nominations, however, the movie was never given a sequel.

28 years after the release of Con Air, director Simon West has shared a new update on the possibility of a sequel finally happening. It's a fair question, as Cage is expected to return in an upcoming sequel to Face/Off – another film that was also released in 1997. For his part, West told Screen Geek that he would be more than happy to reunite with Cage for Con Air 2 if he's given the opportunity. The director even shared that he's discussed a potential sequel with Cage in the past, but to truly move forward with Con Air 2, the project would need to have a solid story with other key actors returning.
