Roseanne Barr Planning New Silly Series: A Family, Guns, and the Bible

Roseanne Barr, the comedian and actress who was removed from her self-titled ABC sitcom in 2018, is planning a return to television. Now 72, she has teamed up with longtime collaborator Allan Stephan, a producer from Roseanne, to develop a new comedy series.

In an interview with Variety, Barr described the upcoming show as a blend of The Roseanne Show and The Sopranos.
The series will span four to six episodes and follow an Alabama farmer who takes on the mission of “saving the United States from drug gangs and China” while cultivating and selling substances like cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms.
“It’s silly and out there,” Barr shared. “[It will contain] very offensive ideas and a lot of swearing.” She added that the series is partially inspired by her life in Hawaii, where she lives on a farm with her daughter, son-in-law, and six grandchildren. “They have goats running through their house and stuff,...
