Last month the 44-year-old Lord of the Rings star sparked wedding rumors by referring to Mette-Marie as his “wife” during an interview, saying that he was “beyond grateful for my family and my kids and my wife.”

TMZ reported that they were able to find Elijah and Mette-Marie‘s marriage certificate. However, the notoriously private couple obtained a confidential license, which doesn’t include details such as the date they tied the knot.
The outlet reported that the couple exchanged vows in a New Year’s Eve wedding in Sweden. The ceremony was described as “an intimate ceremony with around 80 friends and family.”
