Park and Recreations‘ approach to mockumentary was pretty reminiscent of Steve Carell’s The Office, which wasn’t surprising. Not only did both shows revolve around workplace humor, featuring ensemble casts, but the former was initially conceived as a direct spin-off to The Office.

Although this plan was eventually dropped, apart from The Office‘s noticeable influence, one Rob Lowe show, which isn’t exactly synonymous with comedy, contributed to the creation of Parks and Recreation.
