Not Nanami, Mads Mikkelsen was the Inspiration Behind ‘Shimazaki in the Land of Peace’s Main Character
It was recently reported that one of Mads Mikkelsen’s greatest works, The Promised Land, a 2023 epic historical drama film, is getting an official release in Japan. The movie was a huge hit and Mikkelsen received a lot of appreciation and fame because of it. And to celebrate its release, Shimazaki in the Land of Peace’s illustrator, Takeshi Seshimo, drew an illustration of the actor.

Shimazaki in the Land of Peace is one of the most underrated manga series from the Seinen genre that explores the themes of war, action, slice-of-life, comedy, and a little bit of drama.
