Trade Talk: Maddock Films’ Chhaava Gets A Spectacular Opening
In spite of some below-the-belt reviews, Dinesh Vijan-Vicky Kaushal’s stunning Chhaava opened to jaw-dropping numbers. Accruing Rs 35 crores on its first day in this day and age is no mean achievement, and never mind the mean reviews.
Bihar’s leading exhibitor, Roshan Singh, says, “It is a phenomenal opening for a phenomenal film. Chhaava is 2 hours 40 minutes of non-stop spectacle.”
Trade Guru Taran Adarsh says, “Expectations for Chhaava are sky-high, and the film had a stellar opening. It is Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener to date. While advance bookings in Maharashtra were phenomenal, momentum is building outside Maharashtra as well. Given the current trends, a ₹ 25 crore opening was well within reach, with the potential to go even higher depending on spot bookings. The business in Maharashtra should be exceptional.”
