Sailor Moon's Notorious English Dub Censored A Lot — Including 1 Banned Episode That Deserves a Second Chance

Sailor Moon is one of the most beloved magical girl anime series of all time, but Usagi Tsukino's adventures in the '90s were actually changed and censored a lot for Western audiences. The original Toonami dub, which aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2001, changed many important aspects of the series, significantly changing important parts of the story.
Among the most notorious parts of Sailor Moon's censorship were Japanese names and cultural elements, queer content and violence and death. One episode early on in Sailor Moon's run was omitted from Toonami's English Dic dub and banned from U.S. broadcasts, but re-examining the episode with a modern lens reveals an episode that has a unique charm and deserves to be watched by fans of the series who may not have realized they never saw it back in the day.
