A24 has released a first look at Warfare, the new visceral cinematic event directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland. Mendoza was the military supervisor for Garland’s Civil War.

Warfare embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory.

A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real-time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.

The film was written and directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, whose directing and writing credits also include Ex Machina, Annihilation and Men. Garland previously wrote 28 Days Later, Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later, Never Let Me Go and Dredd as well.
