'It's a Very Different Business': Michael Bay Details Call With James Cameron to Lament Hollywood's Evolution

Michael Bay recently shared a story about commiserating the current state of Hollywood with fellow filmmaker James Cameron. The two were discussing the challenges of getting original ideas greenlit by studios.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Bay shared his discussion with the Titanic director where the two talked about how much Hollywood has changed since the early days of their careers. "I just had a conference call with Jim Cameron, and we were both commiserating about Hollywood. No one can greenlight anything anymore. It’s just so slow. It’s a very different business," Bay said.

He went on to reminisce about how the process today differs from the time when he was making Armageddon, the 1998 disaster film starring Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton and Liv Tyler.
