Avatar: The Last Airbender told viewers much about the events leading up to the Hundred Year War, but showed very little. The brutal conflict was something which always affected the lives of people around the world. Settlements in the Earth Kingdom were devastated by the 100 Year War and even Fire Nation schools indoctrinated citizens into believing its country was pursuing its conquests to bring peace to the world. Much like the Fire Nation, Avatar has always tried to shield younger viewers from the full bloodshed of the conflict.

While the anime has its serious moments, Avatar is still a series aimed at kids. It makes sense why there may not be a deep dive into the tragedies of the Hundred Year War, but the series was at least honest about what such a horrifying event would look like.
