Resident Evil Reboot Director’s Salary Reportedly Revealed, & It’s A Big Bet On A Director With Only One Released Movie

The director of the upcoming Resident Evil reboot, Zach Cregger, is reportedly earning a massive sum for his work on the film. Based on the popular Capcom video game, the first movie in the horror franchise was released in 2002, with new sequels and reboots – many of which starred Milla Jovovich – releasing every few years up until Netflix's Resident Evil series in 2022. Now, Cregger, after the success of Barbarian in 2022, is set to write, produce, and direct his own Resident Evil movie, with a release date recently confirmed for September 18, 2026.
A recent report from Matthew Belloni of Puck claims that Sony is betting big on Cregger with Resident Evil, with the filmmaker apparently earning a paycheck of $20 million for writing, directing, and producing.
