Despite Keanu Reeves maintaining his stance on the fate of John Wick and his role in the franchise, Lionsgate executive Jenefer Brown affirms John Wick 5 is still in development. The franchise centers on the exploits of a legendary, formerly retired assassin played by Reeves, who finds himself dragged back into the life he tried to leave behind out of great reluctance. The franchise's last installment was the release of John Wick: Chapter 4in 2023, which saw the assassin fight powerful foes in France in his final battle.

As reported by ComicBook.com, Brown, who serves as Head of Global Products and Affairs at Lionsgate, addressed the future of the John Wick franchise when speaking to the website. Alongside Ballerina and a selection of other productions across various mediums, Brown confirmed a fifth John Wick movie is in the works without addressing repeated comments by Reeves that he had no interest in reprising the role.
