Tropic Thunder is still Robert Downey Jr.'s most controversial movie, it continues to face heavy backlash for its divisive themes. He said they set out to challenge tropes but anticipated the criticism. Fans can watch Tropic Thunder for free on Tubi this April.
Tubi is streaming Tropic Thunder for free on Apr. 1.Directed by Ben Stiller, the R-rated comedy follows a group of egotistical actors who believe they're making a war film; none of their scenes were make believe, however, and they stumbled along, oblivious to the peril. Tropic Thunder stars Stiller, Jack Black, Brandon Timothy Jackson, and Robert Downey Jr., who plays Kirk Lazarus, an Australian method actor who takes his latest role to the extreme. Lazarus undergoes "pigmentation alteration" to play Staff Sergeant Lincoln Osiris, a black character and war veteran. Critics have since called out Downey Jr.'s character and his portrayal of African-Americans.
