Be Happy, directed by Remo D’Souza, revolves around the life of a bank employee named Shiv Rastogi and the relationship he shares with his daughter, Dhara. The premise of a single father bringing up his child after her mother’s death, understanding her sensibilities, and making sure she understands life for what it is, held a lot of promise, but the makers were not able to capitalize on it. The film lacked emotional depth, because of which the narrative never really accentuated the performances of the characters. Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma were fabulous in their respective roles, but you can create only a limited impact if you are not backed by a strong script.
