'Coco 2' Confirmed By Disney Pixar, Set to Release in 2029
After seven long years, Coco is finally getting a sequel from Disney's Pixar. Unfortunately, fans of the beloved animated film might have to wait until they get to the afterlife before it hits theaters. Coco 2 is officially in the works, and it already has a release date.
On Thursday morning, Pixar confirmed that Coco 2 will be directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, who helmed the first film, for a projected 2029 release window. The Oscar-winning producer behind Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2, Mark Nielsen, will produce the long-awaited sequel to Coco. As described by Disney, the first film followed Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), a 12-year-old who dreamed of becoming a musician despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, who ventures to the vibrant Land of the Dead to unlock the real story behind his family history.
