'Something More Original': Dragon Ball Animator Reveals How Akira Toriyama Created His Most Iconic Chrono Trigger Character
The former and current creative talents of Dragon Ball have revealed how the late Akira Toriyama created one of the most memorable characters in Chrono Trigger. The classic role-playing game for the Super Nintendo celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025.
KosoKoso, a Japanese podcast hosted by former Dragon Ball editor Kazuhiko Torishima and Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, uploaded its latest episode to YouTube. The episode includes Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, a key animator and character designer for numerous Dragon Ball anime series, and Kazuo Enokimoto, a background artist for Toei Animation. Naz Chris, a DJ, producer and artist associated with KosoKoso, also joined the discussion. During the panel's discussion of Dragon Ball and its late creator, Akira Toriyama, the development of Chrono Trigger was briefly discussed during the two-hour episode.
