Kristin Davis Says ‘Sex and the City’ Scene Where Charlotte Refused to Perform Oral Sex Was ‘Revolutionary’

Kristin Davis recalled a “sweet but significant” moment in Season 1 of HBO’s “Sex and the City” in which her character, Charlotte, told the man she was dating she was not into blowjobs.
“The idea of choosing not to do something just because men expect it is kind of revolutionary,” the actress said Monday on her rewatch podcast, “Are You a Charlotte?”
In the episode, a conflicted Charlotte talks to BFFs Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) to learn how they feel about giving and receiving oral sex. Carrie assures Charlotte she does not have to do anything she is not comfortable with.
She also told guest Oliver Hudson that the show’s creators, Darren Star and Michael Patrick King, asked for the actresses’ own attitudes on the matter.
“Darren and Michael Patrick approached each of us separately and asked, ‘How do you feel about blowjobs?...
