Ariana Grande’s “Brighter Days Ahead” Short Film Closes the Chapter on ‘Eternal Sunshine’

Pop singer and actress Ariana Grande has released a visual companion to Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. The 26-minute short film, “Brighter Days Ahead,” was co-directed by Grande and frequent collaborator Christian Breslauer and is scored to music from the new album.
The short film serves as a continuation of the music video for “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” from the original version of Eternal Sunshine. Grande reprises her role as Peaches, a woman who visits Brighter Days Inc. to have memories of her boyfriend removed from her memory a la Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, only now she’s 70 years older and she wants her memory restored.
Old-age makeup, home videos from Grande’s childhood, and nods to Hollywood classics abound, including a black-and-white segment that tips its hat to James Whales’s 1931 adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
