Alexander Siddig on Deep Space 9: The Studio Tried to Get Me Fired “Every Year” Because Bashir Was Not a Good-looking Character

Alexander Siddig didn’t just survive Deep Space Nine, he outlasted studio execs who allegedly wanted him gone. Yep, the man behind Dr. Julian Bashir claimed the studio tried to fire him “every year” just because his character wasn’t the classic good-looking type they had in mind.
Bashir, a charmingly awkward doctor with brains for days, didn’t fit the leading man mold, and that, apparently, ruffled a few suits.
