Remember two weeks ago when the world fell into some sort of dystopian dream, and we were all joined together for one common cause — the chairs? We’re, of course, talking about Marvel’s casting reveal for its upcoming production, Avengers: Doomsday, a stunt in which a live stream panned from chair to chair revealing the names of the actors involved in the movie. Every 15 minutes or so over the course of several hours, those tuning in cheered on their favorite characters in what is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about publicity campaigns in recent years. While names like Channing Tatum as Gambit, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier undoubtedly had fans screaming and running in circles, the reveal that Tom Hiddleston would be returning as Loki also drove viewers into a frenzy.
