Minka Kelly does not plan to reprise her role as Lyla Garrity in the upcoming Friday Night Lights reboot being developed by Peacock. While promoting her new Netflix series Ransom Canyon, the actor commented on the future of her character from the original football drama, suggesting her time in Dillon, Texas is finished.

“I think it’s always best leaving people — if even they do — wanting more,” Kelly told Deadline. “I think leaving that where it was is probably the right thing to do. Maybe too much sometimes is too much. I don’t know that they need more Lyla.”

Kelly starred in Friday Night Lights from 2006 through 2009. Her character, Lyla, was first introduced as the Panthers’ head cheerleader and girlfriend to quarterback Jason Street.
