At the time, few could have predicted the sketch comedy show would turn into a huge hit, becoming a dominant pop culture force and launching the careers of several of the show’s stars, including the Wayans brothers, dancer Jennifer Lopez, and a previously little-known Canadian comedian named Jim Carrey. Carrey became the show’s breakout star with recurring characters like Fire Marshal Bill, and he was soon starring in blockbusters like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. We’ve spoken with Carrey many times over the course of his illustrious career, and he says he’ll never forget the excitement of his time spent on In Living Color.
