George R.R. Martin once broke his promise to fans—that he would deliver The Winds of Winter before the final season of Game of Thrones—and now, six years later, there is still no sixth novel in our hands. It brings me to the conclusion that the author was actually the reason why the show ended on an underwhelming note.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss adapted Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series to the screen, which consisted, so far, of five books, and because the show ran for eight seasons, the rest of the installments were left to the devices of the showrunners.
