Just 10 days into its global run, Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie has already broken nearly every record that it could’ve. It’s the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025, having overtaken the lifetime haul of Captain America: Brave New World; it’s now also the second-biggest video game adaptation ever made, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie; and this weekend, it passed the massive half-billion mark at the global box office. Directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, A Minecraft Movie is quickly establishing itself as a phenomenon, and is earmarked to become the first American movie to pass the coveted $1 billion mark worldwide this year.

Produced on a reported budget of $150 million, A Minecraft Movie has grossed an estimated $280 million domestically and $550 million worldwide. The movie has proven to be exceptionally popular among younger audiences, with dozens of videos depicting absolute mayhem in theaters being widely circulated online.
