President Donald Trump continues to draw criticism for his policies deporting illegal immigrants and failure to follow orders on returning some individuals to America. In fact, the president doubled down and suggested "homegrowns" could be deported as well, prompting a strong response from Stephen Colbert.

At the center of the controversy is Kimlar Abrego Garcia, who was sent to an El Salvadaor prison in what whas initially described as an "administrative error." Yet the White House has made no effort to return Abrego Garcia to the U.S., even as courts rule the deportation had no legal standing.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has followed the story closely. Wednesday night's monologue picked up on Trump's latest comments suggesting that Americans could also be deported to international prisons.

Colbert shared a clip of Trump on Fox News' Spanish-language network saying that "homegrown criminals" could potentially be sent to prisons in El Salvador.
