One Piece: Oda Didn’t Hold Back in His Kuma vs Akainu Scene That Represented What Shonen Truly Means

The abundance of tragic characters in One Piece could fill up a whole stadium. However, none have a fate worse than Bartholomew Kuma. During the pre-time skip era, we truly believe he was a dangerous Warlord, and some fans hated him for separating the Straw Hats. However, we soon find out his true intentions.
Kuma has sacrificed so much in his life for others. Starting with his daughter, Jewelry Bonney, whom he went through heaven and hell to find a cure for. He underwent modifications and became a Pacifista in exchange for her treatment. Later on, despite being an antagonist in One Piece, he was revealed to be an ally.
This, however, didn’t go without consequence. The World Government punished and made him a slave-to-rent in Mary Geoise. It was not until the Wano Arc that he was rescued by the Revolutionaries.
We thought his suffering might end there,...
