The series is an adaptation of Martha Wells’ The Murderbot Diaries, which takes an interesting twist on the usual sci-fi stories the audience has watched on-screen. The author serves as a consulting producer on the show to make sure that her story is being portrayed in the way she envisioned in her novel series.

Interestingly, the author mentioned in an interview that she started writing the novel series in 2016 when she was overwhelmingly angry at the political situation.
