
Denzel Washington Defends High 'Othello' Ticket Prices, Responds to Backlash for $900 Seats

Denzel Washington is responding to the high prices for his Broadway run in Othello.
If you didn’t know, the 70-year-old actor is currently playing the titular role in the Shakespeare adaptation on Broadway, where some seats selling for as much as $900 each.
However, Denzel recently pointed out that there are other options when it comes to the pricing.
“[They’re selling] as low as $50. People don’t talk about that,” he told Entertainment Tonight in a new interview.

The Gladiator II star also chuckled at the comparison that the demand is comparable to Beyonce and Jay-Z tour tickets. “I haven’t quite felt like that. I can’t sing or rap,” he said.
He also responded to the overwhelming reception the show is getting. “I’m humbled by the reaction and the response that we’re getting, and I’m humbled by the opportunity to use my celebrity to help others.
