Freak Accident Filming Pilot Nearly Killed ‘Brady Bunch’ Actor

Susan Olsen — who played Cindy Brady, the “youngest one in curls” — suffered a terrible injury filming the first episode of The Brady Bunch.
The former child actor opened up about a backstage accident in a Wednesday episode of The Real Brady Bros podcast alongside her former co-stars Christopher Knight and Barry Williams.
During the show’s first pilot episode in 1969, where blended-family parents Mike and Carol Brady tie the knot, they revisited a moment when the camera struggled to focus on Cindy’s face. Olsen affirmed that it wasn’t a mistake but happened because she “got injured” before filming.
“I almost died,” Olsen said, adding that she suffered an injury while “standing on a makeup chair and something from the catwalk, where they keep all the lights and everything, fell.”
“It hit the makeup man first, [fell] off the body makeup woman, and hit me in the face,” she said.
