We live in an era where we’re getting big open-world games and live-service shooters on the regular. But in this norm, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stands out and wears its turn-based RPG badge proudly. Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive, this debut title is as beautiful as it is good.
Released April 24 on Xbox Game Pass and all major platforms, it has already earned critical acclaim with a 92 Metacritic score. There was an opening in the industry for a polished and well-made turn-based RPG, and Sandfall took it. The developers already said that it was their plan all along before the game even came out.
