I Love Game of Thrones but George R.R. Martin Wasn’t Thinking Straight Claiming Jaime Lannister Can Beat Aragorn
It is the age-old debate in the fantasy world—who can beat who in a duel, who’s stronger, etc. Perhaps the most popular rivalry today is Game of Thrones’ Jaime Lannister versus The Lord of the Rings’ Aragorn. Both are dashing swordsmen in their own way, and each has a specific skill set that distinguishes them, but at the end of the day, someone has to win.
Of course, Martin believes in the ability of his own creation, and he is very confident the Kingslayer would beat Strider. It would be absurd to fashion a character as the greatest fighter in Westeros and then think he’s going to be defeated by a character from another literature. Even I would support my own hero. But, objectively, can Jaime really beat Aragorn?
