Image Source: Paramount Pictures Leonardo DiCaprio is one of those rare Hollywood exceptions: a former child star who has gone on to both box-office stardom and critical acclaim. Two of his seven Academy Award nominations came for The Wolf of Wall Street — one for his performance (Best Actor) and one for his producing (Best Picture). The impressive part is that comedies generally don’t get many Oscar nominations, and The Wolf of Wall Street was a dark comedy at that. Based on stockbroker Jordan Belfort’s real-life memoir about he and his firm’s financial misdeeds, the movie became the top-grossing film of director Martin Scorsese’s career, and DiCaprio earned rave reviews for taking on the role of Belfort.
