When he introduced the world to the galactic saga of Star Wars, George Lucas had a very different vision in mind than what has unfolded over the past few decades. One thing he certainly didn’t anticipate was its massive expansion into toy merchandising.

Following the success of the original film and the rest of the trilogy, the film series expanded into a wide range of merchandise, including countless toys and products. However, Lucas himself had little personal interest in them, something he admitted led to criticism.
