Amazon Taps John Wick Creator for New Fantasy Movie
Amazon MGM Studios has tapped John Wick creator Derek Kolstad to help develop a potential new franchise for the company. The screenwriter is set to adapt the forthcoming romantasy novel Shield of Sparrows into a feature-length movie.
According to Deadline, Shield of Sparrows, written by The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and #1 Amazon best-selling author Devney Perry, is set to be published by Entangled Publishing’s Red Tower imprint on May 6. The novel is described as a "slow-burn, high-stakes romantasy, where enemies become lovers, monsters stalk a cursed realm, and a forgotten princess finds the strength to tear off her crown and become the warrior she was never meant to be." Premeditated Productions is developing the film adaptation under its first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
