Many authors use initials for their names, but nothing quite as interesting as George R.R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien. Fans have been wondering where these letter Rs came from and what they mean for the writers.

Of course, there is also the speculation that Martin may have copied it from Tolkien, as he grew up reading fantasy books, especially The Lord of the Rings. While he asserted that his works weren’t directly influenced by Tolkien, he still expressed admiration for the famed English novelist.
