Doom: The Dark Ages Hits Impressive Metacritic Score, But Doesn't Beat Eternal
Reviews for Doom: The Dark Ages are pouring in, and while it currently has a great score on Metacritic, it's looking like it won't get out of the large shadow that Doom Eternal cast. Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, having a medieval setting and tone. The game's final trailer revealed quite a bit of information about the game's story, surprisingly, since narrative has never been a major focus of the Doom franchise. Now that reviews are out, it seems like The Dark Ages's "stand and fight" motif might be a step back for some fans after the high-speed gameplay of Eternal.
