Sarah Sherman Says She “Obviously Never Meant to Hurt” Aimee Lou Wood’s “Feelings” With ‘SNL’ ‘White Lotus’ Parody

Sarah Sherman never wanted to “hurt” Aimee Lou Wood’s “feelings” with Saturday Night Live’s viral “White Potus” sketch.
The SNL star addressed the backlash surrounding the sketch comedy show’s White Lotus spoof, which saw character’s from season three of Mike White’s hit drama shifted into President Donald Trump, his family and cabinet members. The bit particularly drew in backlash when Sherman portrayed Wood’s character Chelsea with a pair of fake teeth that appeared to mock her own.
“I fucking obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings,” Sherman said during a Vanity Fair profile, published on Tuesday. “Never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset. I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad.”
Sherman clarified that she “never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings,” and “was excited to play her because she’s so iconic [and] her character [Chelsea] is so iconic.
