Jim Carrey Is One of the Reasons Why The Weeknd Became an Actor
Image
The Weeknd has proven to be one of the most influential singer-songwriter cum record producers of all time, but that doesn’t seem to be the stream he’s sticking to. This is because he seems to be trying to dive deep into the acting field as well, with his titular film with Jenna Ortega based on his latest album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, recently having made its way to the screens.

While the album, for one, has received generally favorable reviews on average, the movie is being deemed Ortega’s worst and most critically panned project to date. But here’s the surprising part: Abel Tesfaye claims it was none other than Jim Carrey’s The Mask that inspired him to perform, leading to his disastrous collaborative project with Ortega.

The Weeknd claims Jim Carrey’s The Mask inspired him to perform Jim Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss. | Credits: The Mask / Katja Motion Picture Corporation.
