Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Rockets to No. 1 at Korea Box Office

Hollywood returned to the top of the Korean box office in emphatic fashion this past weekend (May 16–18) as “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” debuted with $5.4 million, accounting for a commanding 66.63% of total weekend revenue.
The latest installment in the long-running action franchise, led by Tom Cruise, drew 759,363 admissions across a massive 2,385 screens, according to Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council. Including limited previews, the film has grossed $5.5 million from 762,955 total admissions.
After four weekends atop the chart, South Korean crime thriller “Yadang: The Snitch” finally ceded the No. 1 spot, landing in second with $820,055. The domestic hit added another 116,846 admissions, lifting its cumulative gross to $21.8 million from more than 3.2 million tickets sold since its April 16 release.
