Some amazing acting performances but a lot of the drama and intensity of the real story never makes it into the film. It relies a lot on the summary 'true story' updates at the end to tell you a lot of dramatic things that are missing from the actual movie. Feels a bit like a get-out technique for a story that couldn't be told on screen.
Even the main character's central journey in life happens off-screen and isn't really explained.
Worth watching and still very educational about this period in Brazilian history, but the film itself is not a masterpiece.
There are lots of things that would've been more compelling and more dramatic but have been left out.
