Okay, so maybe 2025 is the year of double performances. Actors playing more than one role in the same film. Robert Pattinson, Michael B. Jordan, Robert DeNiro, and now Blake Lively... all in proportion, of course. Unfortunately, this last phrase about proportions doesn't sit well with Deadpool's wife, and the writers of Another Simple Favor know it. What they may not know is that along with delivering a good script, they also need to define the characters well. We're all for potential evolution and depth in a character's arc within a story, but there's none of that here. There's a jumble of personalities, a jumble of motivations, a jumble of intentions. Or perhaps a lack of all of the above. When the supporting characters in a comedy are funnier than the leads, we have a problem.
Come on. The script is awful. There are several resources present, but they're all poorly used. They even ruin the infallible plot twist. The comedy isn't funny, and the wonderful locations are horribly used. Everything is over-the-top and poorly acted. Everything is repetitive and empty. Anna Kendrick did a great job acting and directing Woman of the Hour, and here she seems like a newcomer. Why does she always have to speak so quickly?
And I really hope my audio system had a problem while watching the film and not that the sound editing had the errors I noticed, because that would be the last straw.
Anyway, Another Simple Favor is one of the worst movies I've seen in 2025. That's the only sure and certain thing here.
