Let me get this out of the way, I do not like any of the previous Descendants Movies as an adult. Now look I understand that they were a huge part for everyone of the Gen Z Generation that grew up watching Disney Channel like myself, but I can't find myself getting into these movies nowadays. With all that being said, Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024) makes the three previous movies look like masterpieces.
Positives for Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024):
There will be a little bit of charm for people in my generation to once again be back in the world of Auradon. And finally, I was genuinely surprised to see China Anne McClain back as Uma and even though she doesn't have a lot to do in the movie, but as someone who did grow up watch Disney Channel, I appreciated that.
Negatives for Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024):
The new cast of characters in this movie are very boring and I didn't care about any of them. Also, it's apparently taken four movies to finally introduces us to the world of Wonderland, but it's too little too late. Similar to the three previous movies, the main villain wants to take over Auradon. They also introduce the concept of time-travel in this movie and it plays out like a lot of other time-travel movie just not as good. And finally, the villain is defeated through the power of friendship because that's the only solution in these Disney Channel Original Movies.
Overall, Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024) is another pointless movie that was only made to remind people of other movies that they liked when they were younger and it's boring to me.
