Compo, Clegg and Seymour happen upon a somewhat wiley tramp, who persuades them to help him rescue his childhood donkey (from better days), from a field. In fact the tramp wants to fix the 'donkey derby' at the local garden fete.

Three old chums agree to take the ailing Sam on one last trip to see his flousy girl-friend, Lily Bless Her, in the middle of the night. While enjoying the delights of Lilly, Sam departs for another world with a very happy smile on his face. The problem for his pals is how to get Sam back home before morning without his wife awakening.

Wesley & Edie's daughter Glenda is getting married, and Clegg and Compo make a new friend in Edie's brother Seymour. Foggy has left to take over an egg decorating business he inherited.

Deciding they need a bicycle each, the trio venture to old friend Dirk's (né Percy) shop, hoping for a bargain. Meanwhile, the café has been redecorated and is set for a grand re-opening.

Howard's fears that there may be a spider hiding in his cap affects his relationship with Marina. A lucky wedding chimney sweep is down on his luck and depressed. Foggy insists on being his manager. Norman and Compo follow along to watch.

The men take their pleasure tormenting a salesman by steering him toward women that they know will give him trouble. Howard again attempts to shake Pearl off his adulterous trail.

Mrs Avery and Nora Batty seem to be having a cleaning competition. Pearl finds long blonde hair on Howard's clothing. Marina, hitchhiking to the coast, is picked up by Barry.

The men try to help Smiler find a squeak in his hand cart. Barry gets drunk. Marina buys a camouflage net.

The trio tries to persuade a tight fisted man to buy a round of drinks. For that they elaborate a very peculiar plan.

Foggy, Norman and Compo meet a Mr. Broadbent who aims to become closer to the wilderness. He gives the trio his van, but fails to inform them of the surprise in the back. Howard and Marina try racing bikes.

A pushy blue-haired woman is pursuing Herbert Truelove.

Nora Batty is assigning "volunteers" to take out old persons for the day, despite the fact that the volunteers appear to be the same age as the "old people". The old people, Bert and Sal need help looking for an escaped "Lad" who looks just as old as the old people. Glenda has assigned Barry to "do a little something" for the Children's Concert. Howard seeks an out of the way Inn for the safety of a certain young lady.

The episode that introduces Entwhistle, a cross-cultural character. It looks like the bill collector has finally caught up with Tom, but its Truly & Clegg to the rescue. Elsewhere, Howard finds himself inspired by a book to change his life - and falling into Billy's world! Evie is reminded of a fond childhood memory.

Barry's acting skills are needed to save Clegg when he gets kidnapped by Smiler's new girlfriend after Smiler breaks up with her.

While trying to talk Nora Batty into a bike ride, Alvin discovers that Nora and her best-friend Audrey had a tiff several years earlier when Audrey laughed at Nora's hat. Alvin enlists the help of Truly, Billy, Howard, and Marina to get them back together. Glenda hires a caddy for Barry.

Foggy and Norman think that Compo has lost his mind because he sees a floating fat lady. Glenda tries to convince her mother, Edie, to get new glasses.

Howard is roaming free in the village despite Pearl's efforts to keep him occupied at home. The Cafe has a mysterious patron. Wesley is creating another machine.

Howard's new plan on escaping from Pearl is to insist on staying at home with her. Compo remissness about a childhood game called "thumpy-dump". Truly has purchased a broken lawnmower from Auntie Wainwright.

Compo goes into shock when he catches Nora Batty in a church hall closet with Billy Chiselhurst. When he recovers his senses, Compo, egged on by Foggy, challenges Billy to a duel at dawn.

Foggy, Norman and Compo meet a smarmy hustler trying to sell them a story (and a map) of pirate treasure in West Yorkshire. Howard dug hidden sniper trenches all over the area so that he and Marina can safely be alone.

Compo is short of cash and decides to collect old debts.

Seymour, Compo and Norman dressed as Father Christmas go door to door collecting for church charity, but no one is interested. A fourth Father Christmas is acting suspiciously and runs away when ever seen by the trio. Edie is scandalized that Glenda wants a water bed. Auntie Wainwright is terrified that her shop is going to be burgled Christmas eve.

Wesley tries to fix Edie's convertible. Compo is searching for relief from a skin condition.

Compo is given a very nice, but ill-fitting suit to attend the funeral of the suit's former occupant. On the way to the visitation, Compo searches for, and finds, his stray ferret.

Compo reminisces about the love of his life - well at least from his primary education years. He tries to find her with help from Norman and Foggy because he is getting nowhere with Nora Batty.
