With a Mafia kingpin who wants to talk, a menacing hit man, and a secret cavern, Detective Montalbano's got his hands full. They all point to what may or may not be a half-century old crime.

When a prominent citizen is found dead in a compromising position, the coroner rules heart attack, but Montalbano isn't buying it. He doesn't buy the circumstantial case built up against the Swedish daughter in-law of the local MP, either.

An elderly merchant is found murdered and a young woman who may have been involved with him disappears the same day. Montalbano has to solve it quickly, along with finding out who's been stealing some school kids' lunches.

Dozing off en route to a funeral, Montalbano is awakened when his driver crashes next to a seemingly abandoned villa. He later investigates the property alone, finding a corpse and uncovering the secret lives of many people in Vigata.

An elderly couple vanishes during a scenic bus trip and a computer expert is found dead. Montalbano thinks the two cases are related, but has to interview a bus load of Sicilian senior citizens to get to the bottom of it.

It appears the goldsmith rigged his own wheelchair into a suicidal electric chair. Questions arise when it's revealed that his will, which promised everything to his brother, is a forged document.

Salvo is called to the scene of a dead blind man and finds himself taking responsibility for his guide dog. Once the investigation determines that the man was murdered, a course of events lead Salvo to deceive 'Livia into taking a "working" vacation weekend to visit the man's sister and finding that they are in debt with the loan sharks. It is later determined that the murdered man left his substantial savings to his sister - but where did the money come from?

Montalbano must solve a murder case before the New Year's end dinner.

Equal Time - A dead man is found in a quarry, a young woman goes missing, and a "mafia war" ensues. But Salvo's gut tells him all is not what it seems. Mimi and Beba prepare for the baby's christening.

Find the Lady - The death of the elderly Cascio has been written off as an accident. It seems Montalbano's deputy was more concerned with staking out the attractive wife of a criminal on the run, so Salvo investigates himself when a friend of Cascio's provides some suspicious details. Might the release of Pennisi, Cascio's one-time employer, from prison be connected? And was Pennisi really guilty of murdering his lover's husband?

The Patience of the Spider - Montalbano investigates the kidnapping of a young girl. The abductor wants money from the father's brother. The kidnap victim has a handsome young boyfriend who wishes to join the police force.

A night watchman travels the streets on the outskirts of Vigàta until, stopping in front of the gate of a villa, he realizes that the lock has been forced open. Later, the young son of Adelina, the housekeeper of Commissioner Montalbano, is arrested, who immediately professes himself innocent. But something does not look right and the commissioner decides to extend the detention. The question being: what really happened in that house? In the same sleepy Sicilian, town a quiet and reserved young woman is brutally killed with a hammer. Her battered body is found in the municipal archives, where the girl usually worked. The irregularity is that the girl should not have been there at all that day, as the offices were closed for building renovation works. So what was she doing there? And how did the killer escape from the scene unnoticed with their clothes covered in blood? The investigations bring to light the victim's varied personality and multiple secret lives. One after the other, different characters come under suspicion, only later to be cleared due to new evidence in a game of continuous twists and turns. But the uncomfortable truth will eventually reveal itself and it may be not what you expected. Meanwhile, a Swedish film crew arrives causing much interest from the local people.

There are many intriguing stories running in parallel in this fascinating episode: 1. The town of Vigata is buzzing as the new filming location for a Swedish television series set in 1850 that tells of a ship from their country that landed in Sicily. In the production frenzy, the director asks the locals to track down movies and vintage photos to faithfully recreate the air of Vigata at that time. 2. Meanwhile, the engineer Ernesto Sabatello, rummaging in the attic of his house, discovers some super-8 films shot by his father between 1973 and 1978. But what is intriguing the detective is that these are always taken on the same day (27th March) and always the same scene outside a country house. On hearing the story, Montalbano decides to look into this mystery. Is there something deeper and darker waiting to be discovered? 3. In the school attended by the son of Augello, a frightening and incomprehensible attack is carried out. Two people with their faces covered burst into the institute, spreading terror among teachers and children and then launch a threatening and obscure declaration. An additional mystery to shed some light on that will eventually reveal a local cyber-bullying phenomenon.

Montalbano finds Mimi's missing boy Salvo, who has fallen into an apartment cellar. In the cellar is found a large wooden chest and in the chest is the body of a young girl who was murdered years ago. Also Montalbano and Livia cross wires.

"Wings of the Sphinx" A woman's body has been found on a beach. With the usual support of his superiors, Montalbano navigates the tricky world of Sicilian politics, mafioso, and a Catholic charity that helps wayward girls.

Salvo finds a dead horse on his beach front. While he phones this in the horse disappears.Later a beautiful lady from a noble family turns to the station to report a stolen horse and Salvo assumes it is the dead horse. The lady results a friend of Ingrid and is infatuated with Salvo. The story complicates further with the possible involvement of the criminal organizations and a pending trial Salvo has to testify. Ingrid conspires with the lady for a romantic rendezvous with Salvo and later she regrets it. To complicate Salvo's life Livia calls at a bad moment. Salvo finally solves the case with the help of a horse shoe and... it all ends buonnisimo.

(Paper moon) Angelo, a disbarred doctor and pharma rep, is reported missing by his sister Michela and then found shot dead in suggestive circumstances. Michela names Angelo's lover, the frank and sexy Elena, who was to meet Angelo on the fatal evening but claims not to have gone and to have no alibi. Meanwhile several high-level civic figures have died of drug overdoses and political games ensue with the police caught in the middle. And, of course, the Mafia is also in the mix.

Commissioner Montalbano has to investigate the murder of Carmelo Catalanotti, an artist and founder of a theater company. Later, while investigating him, Commissioner Montalbano begins to question his most basic principles and takes unexpected steps.

Inspector Montalbano visits a luxury boat driven into Vigata harbor by a storm, because while off the coast the crew found a corpse in a drifting row-boat. This is a murder case because the dead man was both poisoned and disfigured to prevent identification.

Fazio is missing and everything points to a fatal outcome. Salvo shows his deep caring for his team and is devastated; yet pursues relentlessly to find out what happened and who is behind. After we learn about deeper implications of powerful players. Montalbano at his best perceiving what's behind the scenes and unexpected situations. Finally Salvo plays it masterly with his superiors forcing a tight conclusion and the scene where he physically expresses his satisfaction must be an all time classic.

Angelica's Smile - a series of robberies and a sexy siren cause problems for the detective.

Inspector Montalbano is intrigued by a series of clues sent to him during a slow period. The mystery opponent is building up to a "beautiful treasure" just for the Inspector.
