Charlie is a young boy trapped at home studying over the summer. His father Arthur is a plastic surgeon with a home practice, while his mother Lily works as a nurse, caring for people through the night. On the surface they are a successful, affluent family living in a beautiful Georgian townhouse. But behind closed doors, Arthur is tearing his family apart, through control, infidelity and violence. All Charlie wants is to go out with his friends. He has feelings for a girl called Flo, but she and the others have started going to the Dene, a hideout in the forest away from their parents. Charlie wants to be there with Flo, and the only thing stopping him is his father. When Charlie witnesses an intimate encounter between his father and a local patient, he starts to investigate and uncovers a dirty secret that could end his parent's marriage. But it could be just what Charlie needs to finally get his independence and save his mother.
