- 18-year-old Aoi Wakatsuki works as a maid in a huge Kyoto mansion for the wealthy Sengoku family. Inspector Toshiaki Kaido isn't convinced the maid committed suicide, especially with the Sengoku family refusing to cooperate. Inspector Kaido then employs his own maid Aoi Wakatsuki to work for the Sengoku family and uncover the truth.

He goes back to his hometown of Ashiya in Hyogo Prefecture where he is saved by Ryuji Natsugami , the owner of Banmeshiya, a set meal restaurant. Leaving the acting profession behind, Kairi begins to work at Banmeshiya but the customers who come to the restaurant are ghosts. As Kairi helps out at the shop, he ends up searching for the last dinner which will make the ghosts which visit every night rest in peace.

Suzuki Kyoko lost her husband to cancer five years earlier and her world crashes down. The drunk driver was given the maximum sentence at the time 5 1/2 years. Suzuki Kyoko then spearheads a movement to increase the penalty for reckless driving. She also enrolls at Waseda University where her son died just a week after his entrance ceremony. Suzuki Kyoko also starts an exhibit to honor the victims of reckless driving.
