Chris and Jessi Morse fight subzero temperatures to save their cabin and themselves, while the Rowland family builds a wood-burning oven to conserve a vital lifeline. Michael Manzo builds a new home with backbreaking work and bush ingenuity, and Alex Javor risks hypothermia in order to restore a natural spring.
- In winter, the conditions are extreme. This leads to a hunt for beaver, alternate strategies for training dogs, new tools for getting water, and some much needed brush maintenance to prevent an accidental bush fire.

- Sometimes the resources close to home can become depleted, and then it is time for all to venture further afield to new areas, that have the potential to offer a better lifestyle.
